Additional costs for employees
As head-hunters in Germany we are often asked about the additional costs that companies would have if they employ candidates in Germany.
In Germany there are various insurances and other costs that are obligatory for the employee and employer, regardless of whether you are recruiting someone in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Nürnberg, Munich, Stuttgart or any other city in Germany. Currently (June 2009) these are as follows:
- State pension plan: 19.9% of the salary sum up to a maximum of € 64,800.-. Of this, the employer carries half and the employee half (i.e., the half that the employee carries is deducted from his pay and then paid into the state pension fund including the employer portion).

Vocation times in Germany
As head hunters in Germany we often see surprised looks in the faces of our international clients when they realize what kind of vacation times German employees have.
Vacation times in Germany are more or less standardized, so regardless of whether you are looking for people in Düsseldorf, Cologne (Köln), Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Nürnberg, Munich or other German cities, you will run across the same situations.
The legal minimum vacation time in Germany is 24 working days or nearly 5 weeks. Despite this quite liberal vacation allotment fact is that most German companies actually exceed this and give their employees 30 days of paid vacation. A very few companies actually only offer the legal minimum and it is considered a disadvantage if that is what is offered.
